Maryanne Hawley

Maryanne Hawley passed away at the age of 55 on October 18, 2010 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. She was born Maryanne Sollender on November 11, 1954 in Brewster, Washington. She was one of two children born to Myles “Jay” Sollender and Edna Lorraine Pryor. She spent her childhood years in Bridgeport,Washington, graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1973. Maryanne briefly moved to Phoenix, Arizona where her son Michael was born. Soon after his birth she moved back to Bridgeport and made plans to attend beautician school in Wenatchee. Upon completing her training she worked breifly as a hairstylist in the area. 1986 was a wonderful year for Maryanne as she welcomed her only daughter, Breanna into the world. She felt blessed to now have a son and a daughter to complete her family. Maryanne always had an adventerous spirit and enjoyed moving to new places and trying new things. Over the years she lived in Wenatchee,WA; Kennewick,WA; Anaconda, MT; Pasco, WA; Okanogan,WA; Grand Coulee,WA and finally returned to Bridgeport in 2006 to assist in the care of her ailing mother. While working in the mid-90’s as a Mental Health Technician, Maryanne went back to school. She had always had a desire to help people and so she embarked on earning her bachelor’s degree in hopes of entering into a career in counseling. In 2001, Maryanne earned her BA in Interdisciplinary Education from Heritage College. Soon after, Maryanne found herself living in Grand Coulee and working as a Para Professional for the Nespelem School District. She spent four years in this capacity working much of the time with special needs children and helping them learn and excel both educationally and socially. Maryanne always had a very giving heart. She was eager to lend a hand to those in need, no matter what her personal circumstances may have been at the time. It didn’t matter if you were a long-time friend or a new acquaintance, Maryanne would be there to help any way she could. Maryanne was also very proud of her two children. As a mother, she set a wonderful example of helping others in need, no matter what the situation. As her children grew into adults, she was there all along the way to encourage them in whatever direction their hearts were pulling them. Maryanne also enjoyed creating stained glass artwork and collecting antique dolls and doll furniture. She’d hoped to have more time to focus on these enjoyable activities in her later years. Maryanne is survived by her son, Michael McGrath of Olympia,Washington and her daughter Breanna Sollender of Bridgeport,Washington. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Layne and Holly McGrath of Lacey,WA, and Nadia Ramirez of Bridgeport,WA. Maryanne is also survived by her brother, Matthew J Sollender of Richland,Washington. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Bridgeport Cemetery on November 12, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barnes Chapel in Brewster.
