March 22, 1938 - April 6, 2016
Beloved mate, devoted mother, doting “granny,” good friend, and positive life-force Marilyn Joy Schultz passed away April 6, 2016 at Harmony House, Brewster WA. The daughter of Ruth and George Finley, Marilyn was born March 22, 1938 at Wenatchee, the youngest of five children. She was raised in Manson where she graduated high school in 1956. She was a high school cheerleader and very active in Rainbow Girls, becoming Worthy Advisor. Highlight of her senior year was the honor of being selected Queen of the Manson Apple Blossom Festival on her 18th birthday. While attending Central Washington College she met her future husband, George. He gave her a ride home to Manson one weekend, and by the time they got to the top of Blewett Pass he knew she was the girl he would marry. Their wedding was a year later in Manson, December 8, 1957. (Fashion note: She walked down the aisle in her Apple Blossom gown.) After college and a brief time in Bellevue, they returned to Chelan with young children Robin and Eric, to begin a life of orcharding. In addition to household and parenting chores, Marilyn was active in their church, PEO, Chelan Hospital Guild, Bible study group and birthday girls lunch club. Her work experiences ranged from apple-packing to bank teller and accountant receptionist, plus more than a decade in her most memorable role as Chelan Middle/High School secretary—a position she genuinely loved. Through all these years their home was a happy swirl of students, friends and relatives. Everyone was welcome; her refrigerator, stocked with goodies, always open. Marilyn will be remembered for her positive attitude, a heart-warming smile, great sense of humor and willingness to help others when needed. She loved many things. People. Cooking. Holiday décor. Parties of any kind. Dancing with George. Shopping. Travel. Walking on the beach. Reading. Flowers, and the color Red. But, most of all: Her treasured family who filled her heart with joy and unending love. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George Jr. and Darrell. Marilyn is survived by George, her husband of 58 years, daughter Robin (Mike) Isenhart, son Eric (Mary) Schultz. Grandchildren: Shawn (Jenn) Isenhart, Jason (Alicia) Isenhart, Samantha (Hawkins) Gebbers, and Gregory Schultz. Great Grandchildren: Grace, Drew and Emma Isenhart; Jorden Isenhart; Hawkins J. and Barrett Gebbers. Siblings: Dick Finley, Gwen Armbruster. Our wonderful Marilyn Joy graciously accepted her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, the condition that ultimately led to her passing. She is now departed this life to join her Savior and companion, Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a family to be proud of and each of them owns a lifetime of wonderful memories. Public viewing is scheduled April 14, Noon to 4:00 pm at Precht Rose Chapel in Chelan. A celebration of Marilyn’s life is scheduled for 11:00 am April 16 at Chelan High School. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrance donations to RealLife Church, Chelan WA.
