    Kathleen Joan Campbell

    November 19, 1929 - June 15, 2016

Kathleen Joan Campbell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife of Arthur Campbell, passed away June 15, 2016. Born to Robert and Laura Dowling November 19, 1929 in Rosalia, Wa. Kathleen grew up on a farm near the small town of Rosalia among the rolling hills of the Palouse wheat country. The Dowling family ranch home was an almost identical replica of Bing Crosby’s parent’s home in Spokane. Kathleen’s parents valued education, family, music, fun and hard work. Kathleen learned to drive a wheat truck at age 13. She loved to play cards with her next oldest sister, Lillian, and became an avid bridge player her entire life. She graduated from Rosalia High School and from Eastern Washington College of Education in Cheney. After graduating from Eastern, Kathleen moved to Chelan to begin her 2 year teaching career before being swept off her feet by a handsome young man named Art Campbell. In 1952 Kathleen married Art Campbell in a small and beautiful wedding in Rosalia. They started a family in Chelan and raised three children. Kathleen came from a musical family and was an accomplished piano player, avid reader and great cook. She was the organist at St. Francis Catholic Church for many years. She embraced and supported the “Bach Fest”. She was a strong supporter of our Chelan community and believe in shopping locally. She and Art enjoyed close friends, socializing, dinners and of course, playing bridge. She dearly missed her husband Art and the days of traveling, boating and golf. Always a gracious model for her family, the many nights entertaining friends and family with pleasure and poise. On all of her trips to Stehekin, Montana and beyond bridge was always part of the fun. She truly loved her grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments. She delighted in watching her great grandchildren run about. Kathleen was the definition of a beautiful, dignified, gracious and loving person. She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and great grandmother. We will miss her. Kathleen is survived by her children, Nancy Campbell (Jim) Noack, Arthur C. (Diana) Campbell and Sally Campbell (Ray) Nelson; her grandchildren Eric (Nicole) Campbell, Tom (Mia) Campbell and Patrick Noack, his sister, Jennifer Smith (Craig); James Nelson and Molly Nelson and great-grandchildren Luke and Sophia Campbell (Eric and Nicole Campbell). Kathleen was predeceased by her brother Robert Dowling, DVM, and 2 sisters Agnes Thomas and Lillian Perkins and husband Art Campbell. A celebration of life will be held Wed. June 29th at Campbell’s Resort Centennial Ballroom at 2 p.m. Friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lake Chelan Valley Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1005, Chelan, Wa. 98816.
