September 16, 1932 - May 19, 2016
On May 19th, 2016 we lost a gem. Betty Eleanor Jean (Hansen) Huffer passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83. She was born September 16, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN to parents Edward and Della Hansen. Betty graduated from Adrian High School in Oregon and was a member of Job's Daughters. She was an outstanding vocalist and contemplated a career in music. Instead she chose to attend the NW Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis. After graduation she moved to Parma, ID where she took her first medical technologist job. While in Parma she met and married Ron Huffer. Ron was and always will be the love her life. They were married for 63 years. After several moves, they settled in the Chelan valley, raising their four children. Betty retired in 1995 after dedicating 34 years to her medical profession. Betty was an avid bridge player, and competed in duplicate bridge. She was a member of Hospital Guild Z, raising money for several charities. She loved cross word puzzles, hiking, gardening, and entertaining family and friends. She looked forward to their annual trips to the Oregon coast as well as winter vacations to Mexico and Southern California. Her love of flowers, nature, friends, and family will be forever in our hearts and in our spirit. She is survived by husband Ron, children Pat (Patty), Mike (Cindy), Kim (Lisa), Traci (Stacy), sister Babe, grandchildren, Geoff, Maggie, Ryan, Christopher, Stefanie, Christine, Andrew, Sydney and Max along with 4 great grand children Remembrances in Betty's name can be made to the Arthritis foundation or Autism society of Washington.
