Deborah Haskins

Deborah Christine “Debbie” (Barnett) Haskins passed away peacefully in her home, after an extended illness on November 2, 2023. She was born in Chelan, WA, to David and Ruth Ann (Little) Barnett on September 5,1950. She moved to Arizona with her mom when she was young, and lived there most of her childhood, before returning to Manson, WA, where she graduated from high school in 1968. While she attended high school, she met the love of her life, Steve Haskins, and they were married on October 5, 1968. They had just celebrated 55 years of marriage together. Together, Debbie and Steve lived in Chelan, Chelan Falls, WA, Arizona, Quincy, WA, and Grand Coulee, WA, together. In 1974, they welcomed a daughter, Stephanie, and in 1978, they welcomed another daughter, Heather. Debbie worked at Cascadian Fruit Shippers and other packing sheds throughout Chelan and Manson, throughout her career, and retired, in 1998. Debbie loved getting scratch tickets, playing Yahtzee, watching Christmas movies in June, watching monkey videos, and playing games on her kindle, and QVC. Debbie loved QVC so much, that for years everyone she knew got presents she had ordered through there. When she stopped ordering things, QVC called her and asked if she was okay, because she hadn’t purchased anything! Debbie also loved spending time with her family. She had four wonderful grandsons: Tony, Brandon, Tyson and Kyle. She also had a huge extended family that she loved seeing and having family reunions with. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father- in- law; sister-in- law, Pennie Right; two nephews: Austin and Jacob Jones; and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Haskins of Grand Coulee, WA; daughter, Stephanie (Sean) Thornton of Quincy, WA; daughter, Heather Haskins of Grand Coulee,WA; grandsons: Tony Thornton (Monica Harris) of Ephrata, WA; Brandon Short, Jr. of Grand Coulee, WA; Tyson Thornton (Hailey McKee) of Quincy, WA; Kyle Short of Grand Coulee, WA; brother, David (Alison) Barnett of East Wenatchee, WA; nephew, Hunter Barnett (Brandy) of Moses Lake, WA; step-nephews: Jobe and Noah Masseyof East Wenatchee, WA; sister-in-law, Sandy Jones of Quincy, WA; sister-in-law, Tammy (Dave) Lafferty of Wenatchee, WA; brother-in-law, Jeff (Jamie) Haskins of Arlington, WA; brother-in-law, Dee Wright of East Wenatchee, WA; nephews: Robbie, Chris, and Alex; nieces: Sarah, Holly and Heidi; great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins. The family would like to thank Hospice of Grant County and her main nurse, Ashley, for the wonderful care that they gave to our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma, aunt, and friend. We will miss her. There will be a viewing from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on November 9, 2023, at Precht Rose Chapel with a funeral service at 1:00 P.M.. Directly after that, if you’d like, you may follow the family to Fraternal Cemetery for a short graveside service as well. There will be a reception at the Chelan Eagles on Woodin Ave after that around 2:30 P.M. to celebrate Debbie’s life.
