Bette Rae Webb

Bette Rae Webb, 90 of Chelan, passed away at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, peacefully of COVID pneumonia. She was born Bette Rae Woodward on October 9, 1933, to Max and Helen (Yerxa) Woodward in Wenatchee. Mom grew up in a different era, when Wenatchee was an idyllic small town and most people knew each other. While still a little girl, she experienced the thrill of riding on a float, during an Apple Blossom Parade. From early on, Mom was always a hard worker. Raised on a small apple ranch near Saddle Rock Mountain, she and her "sis" JoAnn built fruit boxes, in order to buy school clothes. As a young person, she also used her hands to become an accomplished pianist. (One of her favorite songs was, "I'll Be With You in Apple Blossom Time.") She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1951. By this time, young Bette had already fallen in love with Dewey Webb. They quickly married (eloped) on September 30, 1952, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Once "hitched," she took on the role of a traditional homemaker. She "kicked it up a notch" and became a highly skilled seamstress, making do with whatever fabric was on hand. Mom also turned into an incredible cook, preparing meals from scratch. She knew how to set a beautiful holiday table. Her Thanksgiving dinners were beyond compare! Additionally, she enjoyed gardening and was interested in interior decorating. In her later years, Mom worked alongside her husband as his administrative assistant. They navigated most of life together, remaining married for 65 years. To sum it up, Bette Rae was a devoted wife and mother, always putting the needs of her family ahead of her own. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness and strength will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. Mom, rest in peace in the sweet arms of Jesus. Bette Rae Webb is survived by her children: daughter Susan Kletsch of Puyallup, Washington, and sons Jeff Webb and Steve Webb, both of Chelan, Washington. Graveside services for Bette Webb will be held at the Chelan Fraternal Cemetery on Wednesday, April 24, at 11:00 A.M. Services are entrusted to Precht Rose Chapel of Chelan.
